Goulburn Base Hospital
Goulburn Base Hospital
Located in the Southern Tablelands of NSW, Goulburn Base Hospital is exposed to significant seasonal temperature fluctuations, with freezing mornings often followed by much warmer daytime conditions. These temperature variations contributed to excessive expansion and contraction of the building’s original dark charcoal fibre cement cladding, resulting in cracking and the need for a comprehensive façade replacement.
Following the introduction of the updated NSW Health Design Guide, approximately 4,000 m² of ALPOLIC™ NC/A1 in Monument was selected for the recladding project. Manufactured in Japan by Mitsubishi Chemical Infratec Co., Ltd., the non-combustible mineral core aluminium cladding was chosen for its durability, long-term performance and 20-year full-cover manufacturer’s warranty, providing confidence for NSW Health Infrastructure and the project team.
Network Architectural worked closely with builder Hansen Yuncken, installer Ascend Contracting Group and accredited fabricator Sydney Fabrications, providing technical guidance throughout the fabrication and installation process to support compliance with the manufacturer’s requirements. The completed recladding delivers a contemporary, resilient façade designed to withstand the demands of Goulburn’s challenging climate.
