Defence Housing Australia

The new state-of-the-art government office building for Defence Housing Australia (DHA) is an iconic landmark in the newly developing commercial, entertainment, and residential precinct of Gungahlin, ACT.

Designed by Guida Moseley Brown Architects and CK Architecture, the 3-storey mixed-use development covers approximately 2,500m² of land. It features a single level basement, ground floor retail with public access, two storeys of flexible office space for over 300 staff with a variety of informal breakout and collaboration spaces, and a light filled landscaped atrium. The building has achieved 5 Star NABERS and WELL Gold Standard.

On the external facade, 1,887m² of Mitsubishi ALPOLIC™ NC/A1 in Terracotta Metallic and Walnut

timber series complement the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Mitsubishi ALPOLIC™ NC/A1 is a fire-safe, fully compliant, aluminium composite cladding. It is composed of a non-combustible mineral core containing zero polyethylene. It offers superior flatness (no oil canning) and utilises Lumiflon FEVE paint technology which provides exceptional durability and protection from UV radiation, water, salt, and hail. ALPOLIC™’s colour and gloss retention is unmatched and will continue to remain vibrant for many years.

At this time, Mitsubishi ALPOLIC™ is the only aluminium composite panel in Australia to have an Environmental Product Declaration produced by GECA, and a 20-year full cover manufacturer’s warranty, which includes materials, labour and rectification costs, and requires no cleaning to maintain the warranty.
